Saving ground truth annotations on selected dataset images using Python API

I am trying to save the ground truth annotations for my dataset and If possible to specify which images from the test set I need, and save them in my local PC. I need that to be able to contrast the gt annotations with the roboflow train v3.0 model inferences. I would ideally like to be able to to that using roboflow API with python. How can I do that?
