I have created a project as object-detection type, i would like to convert it to to instances-egmentation as all assets were labelled using the mart polygon tool. please help advice how to proceed.

You can generate and export a version of your project, (make sure to disable any preprocessing or augmentation steps) then upload them to a new instance segmentation project.

In which format do I need to export the version of the project and how can I upload it to a new one?

Sure! You can export in any format that we support imports. For example, the COCO format is fine. You can download it and upload the images, along with your annotation file, to the upload page.
