It will be good if Roboflow team allow the dataset creator to edit the citation metadata.
Is there any reason for this? since I cannot find anything talking about this.

In order to edit the README, click into your “Overview” tab. From there, click “Edit” and you’ll be able to create a README to contain the information or citation you prefer. Note that editing the README will delete the current citation information. If you want to keep that structure but edit the contents, you should copy the current citation to paste into the editor when you create the README.
