# Research Plan option not found

Hello forum!  
I’m currently writing my master’s thesis at IAAC and cannot seem to find the option to apply for the research plan. Could someone help me?

I’ve found this guide already. But the option doesn’t show up in my billing menu - see the attached screenshot

Also I cannot fully deactivate the basic plan (more than I’ve done already). This might be the issue?

Hi @Lennart_Hamm!  
It’s not possible to go straight from the Basic to Research Plan due to privacy concerns. On the Research Plan, your data is public, so as a fail safe, you must first convert to public datasets.

Hi @Lennart_Hamm!  
It looks like your workspace is still on the Basic Plan, so you must switch to the Public Plan before applying to the Research Plan.

Apologies for the confusion here.
