Polygon can be used to label the data in YOLO format?

Yes, you can use polygon annotations to train different YOLO formats. Here’s a resource for YOLOv8: [How to Train YOLOv8 Instance Segmentation on Custom Data](https://blog.roboflow.com/how-to-train-yolov8-instance-segmentation/)

Ok thanks, but I m asking about object detection using the YOLOv5 or YOLOv8 model, not about the instance segmentation

Yes, you can use polygons to train object detection models using Roboflow Train and YOLOv5 (likely YOLOv8 but I can’t 100% confirm that): [Polygon Annotations for Object Detection in Computer Vision](https://blog.roboflow.com/polygons-object-detection/)

Using drawing polygons over objects then assign with their class names, saving annotations and then export to YOLOv8 format.

Yes drawing polygons over objects can be used for instance segmentation
