_I try to create a new attribute for a class, but when clicking save the attribute does not appear next to the class._

It should appear right away. I can’t see into your workspace, but while you wait for an admin to respond, there’s a couple things you can check and confirm while you wait:

1. make sure you have permission to edit that project
2. confirm you are only putting in alpha/num characters (no special characters)
3. check it in an incognito browser to make sure it’s fully refreshed

Thanks for reaching out, my name is Nathan a support engineer here at Roboflow, happy to help.

That symptom almost always comes down to how the attribute name is handled when you click Save. Two things will silently prevent the attribute from appearing.

- The name has no valid characters left after cleanup. Attribute names allow letters, numbers, and dashes. Spaces are converted to dashes, and other characters (like #, @, or a leading dash) are stripped. If nothing valid remains, the attribute is not created.
- The attribute already exists on that class. A duplicate name is skipped without notice.

Could you try this:

- Under Classes & Tags, add the attribute to the class using a simple name such as test-attr (letters, numbers, and dashes only, under 64 characters).
- Double-check the name is not already listed on that class.

If it saves and appears with a plain, unique name, the earlier attempt was caught by one of the two cases above. If it still does not appear, reply with your browser and a screenshot, plus any errors in the browser console, and I’ll dig in further.

Hello Nathan,

Thank you for your reply, as it has helped me figure out what was wrong. It appears that attributes will not appear if the class name contains the `.` character. We use it as a spacing element to separate words in a class. If I replace it with a dash, it then works again.

Perhaps this was already in the documentation, but otherwise it may be good to add it.

Best,
